Discover Chambéry
near the Camping
Based in the northern Pre-Alps, Chambéry is the prefecture of Savoie. Rich in cultural heritage and historical sites, this pretty town is just 40 minutes from Camping Ile de la Comtesse (reception).
Nicknamed the “City of Dukes”, Chambéry offers a wide range of tours of its heritage and must-see sites. The ChamNord shopping center in Zone des Landiers offers a shopping day in the rain, thanks to the mall’s roof.
To get to Chambéry, we recommend you take the departmental road. You’ll cross the gorges de la Balme with its magnificent scenery, then a breathtaking view of Lac du Bourget with a road just below the Dent du Chat. Finally, you’ll pass the beach at Bourget du Lac and the Chambéry airfield.
From the Camping to Chambéry, it takes 40 minutes by road. So have a nice trip 😉
Grenoble, at the foot of the mountains
Grenoble, a city nestled in the heart of the Alps close to famous ski resorts in winter, combines magnificent nature with urban dynamism. Surrounded by majestic peaks, the town offers a unique panorama. A 45-minute drive from the Camping, for a complete change of scenery, take the Bastille cable car for a spectacular view of the city and surrounding mountains.
As a scientific and technological center, Grenoble is the cradle of innovation. Its research hubs attract brilliant minds from all over the world. Green parks, such as the Jardin des Dauphins, are ideal for outdoor relaxation. The lively downtown streets are packed with cafés, boutiques and a rich cultural life, reflecting the creative energy of this Alpine metropolis.
Music festivals in June, August and September, as well as sporting activities such as UT4M for an extreme tour of Grenoble’s peaks. Catch your breath for this race in a festive, good-natured atmosphere that balances the effort and the altitude difference with good humor (10,000m of positive altitude difference for 160 km).
